WHAT İS A STATIC REGULATOR AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

The regulator, which is often used in electrical appliances, is an important element included in most devices. Regulators serve to use electronic devices more efficiently and prevent systems from being damaged because of voltage imbalances that may occur. WHAT IS A STATIC REGULATOR?

A static regulator is an electronic device that serves to control sudden voltage drop and rise in the network. Static regulators, which are completely electronic, prevent sensitive electronic devices from losing efficiency and being damaged in cases of imbalance.

Static regulators do not contain moving, mechanical parts. Such regulators are manufactured entirely with groups of semiconductor thyristor modules. For this reason, another name given to static regulators is electronic regulator. The output voltage of the microprocessor and the regulator is continuously sampled and according to the deviations from the nominal value, the output voltage is adjusted by triggering the appropriate thyristors according to the DAA technique.

Especially in applications where an engine-type take-off current is needed, the use of a static regulator is resorted to. In addition, CNC machines, printing machines, inductive machines also use a static regulator.

As a regulating transformer for a static regulator, an auto transformer of suitable power is used. In case of any malfunction, operation from the network can be resumed by performing a manual bypass. The advantages of the static regulator include the advantages of deceleration speed, size, and weight.

In addition, a static regulator is a much more affordable regulator in terms of the energy it consumes and the logic of its operation due to the technology it uses. It eliminates the problem by regulating any irregularities that may occur on your devices as soon as possible and ensures that your devices work as they should.

HOW DOES THE STATIC REGULATOR WORK?

The static regulator is used in devices where a problem may occur that requires prompt intervention. Examples of these devices include medical instruments, laboratory equipment, and measuring devices.

The output voltage of the microprocessor and the regulator is continuously sampled and according to the deviations from the nominal value, the output voltage is adjusted by triggering the appropriate thyristors according to the DAA technique. Since the static regulator decides after a sampling period of 20 milliseconds, the correction time will also be 20 milliseconds.

 

HOW TO CONNECT A STATIC REGULATOR?

In static regulators, the input-output connection of the device should be made by following the diagram given on the device. A neutral wire is taken from the electrical panel with 1 phase for 1-phase static regulators and connects to the terminal assembly on the back panel; for 3-phase static regulators, the neutral wire is taken with the 3-phase and connected to the terminal group on the back panel sequentially as L1-L2-L3 and N from the left, then the neutral and phase connection of the load to be fed is made respectively.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE STATIC REGULATOR AND THE SERVO REGULATOR?

The difference between the two regulators is that, in general, the static regulator is lighter, has a faster voltage regulation, has no moving parts in it. In addition, the servo regulator is more affordable than the static regulator, has a wider range of uses because it has been tried in all fields and is considered ideal for home use.
